A cool project I was able to work on last year was helping Dove Gear bring its Ultimate Bird Vest and Ultimate Upland Vest to life through photography and video.

Dove Gear owner Terry Koehler designed these vests after years of bird hunting experience and a desire to create a lighter, more comfortable alternative to traditional hunting vests. His goal was to develop a vest that offered exceptional storage, durability, and adjustability without sacrificing comfort in the field.

For this project, I photographed both products in the studio, captured video footage in the field, and created marketing assets for the Dove Gear website and promotional materials.

Product Photography

One of the most interesting aspects of the project was creating custom 360-degree product views. To accomplish this, I built a floating photography rig in my garage and photographed each vest through a complete rotation. Those images were then combined into animated product views that allow customers to examine the vest from every angle before making a purchase.

Video

We also spent time in the field capturing footage of the vests in real-world hunting situations. In addition to the full one-minute promotional video shown below, we also created 30-second and 40-second versions optimized for use across the website, social media, and other marketing channels.

Collaboration

While I handled the product photography, 360-degree imagery, and video production for this project, the lifestyle photography featured on the Dove Gear website was captured by Sarah Brown. Her field images helped showcase the vests in real-world hunting scenarios and were an important part of the overall visual presentation of the brand.

The success of any website project ultimately comes down to the client’s experience and confidence in the final product.
